Creating playlists for this is not too bad, if it's one playlist every 10 years, it's just 5 or 6 of them. The problem is probably combination, like "dance between 1990 and 2000", or "rock between 1980 and 1990", that'd be handy. I also filed a suggestion to be able to filter by rating, more filters...
