Linux instal without systemd

Is it possible to run the My Media daemon on a Linux system without systemd?

I'm currently using MX Linux, which is debian based, that has an option in the grub menu to run the system with or without systemd. If I run it without systemd the My Media daemon dosen't run. If I enable systemd then My Media runs perfectly but an AppImage for another program breaks.

I'm trying to turn a Lenovo Yoga 11 2 into a media server and backup device.

The install automatically configures systemd and upstart.

You can manually start the daemon using whatever init manager is in your distribution - just run /opt/mymedia/MyMediaForAlexa at startup
