Play songs by clicking on tracks in the My Media web console

Often we are asked to add a feature that allows you to click on a "Play Now" button within the My Media web console to start playing that track on your Echo device.

Unfortunately, this is not yet possible because we cannot PUSH requests onto an Alexa device. Otherwise, rogue skills could start playing music at any time of day on your devices without your control, so we sympathize with Amazon as to why they haven't allowed this model.

The nearest we can think of is to allow you to select a song / album / artist on the My Media console, and then ask Alexa "Alexa, ask My Media to play this".

Given the limitations you face with Alexa, this would be a useful addition.

Although if the feature to add tracks dynamically to a "now playing" style playlist is done, I would potentially use that feature to achieve the same result (i.e. clear the current "now playing" playlist, add a song/album to it, then ask Alexa to play that playlist). Needs quick ways to clear and add things to the "now playing" playlist via the web console, but I'll add that suggestion to the appropriate thread...

How long does it take ? Because of the lack german voice recognition, lots of artists or albums never playable.

its now 2023 and this is not implemented is it ever going to be included in an update ?

This has been implemented for a while in version 1.3.103.0 and higher.

Just say "Alexa, ask my Media to play this" and it will play the currently selected album, artist, playlist, or track as selected in the My Media Web User interface
